Having already had over £300,000 spent on Priory Park recently, further changes are set to take place in the near future.

Two councils have joined together as one to make improvements to the historic park. Chichester District Council and Chichester City Council (not to be confused with one another) will work together in this instance.

The park really does reek with history as it is home to the City Walls, the Guildhall and the remains of a Norman Motte. The recent work done at the park included refurbishing the Guildhall and making repairs to the footpath around the City Walls as well as introducing a new play area and doing some soft and hard landscaping.

"The park is popular with tourists and locals, and we will be working with the City Council to make sure that it continues to attract people to the area in the future," says Cllr Eileen Lintill, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Wellbeing at Chichester District Council.

Structural engineers have been assigned to now make some repairs to the Hospitium structure in the park and develop a scheme which will enhance and protect the Motte.

What are your thoughts on all this? You a fan of the park or do you think it is wasted money?

I am almost as much a lover and appreciator of Priory Park as anyone and although I am excited about all the improvements I still can't help but think that there are currently other causes in greater need.
