Flooding Nightmare
By cynth_hunt | Tuesday, November 09, 2010, 11:26
News this morning of all the disruption caused by the heavy rain overnight and in the early hour rush to get to school and work. Some roads have been closed eastbound between the B2145 Whyke Road and A259 Bognor Road, one lane closed on the A27 eastbound in Chichester between Kingsham roundabout and Bognor Bridge roundabout because of flooding. Same old story as it is each year with this stretch of road. Also apparently the B2145 Chichester Road in Selsey was closed both ways at the Park Lane junction, don't know if this has re-opened yet but with the closures at Hunston for roadworks this could be even more of a nightmare.
A flood warning has been issued by the Environment Agency to the Bosham area in relation to the Bosham Stream.
Other areas of concern are Elbridge, Lidsey, Aldingbourne, Barnham, Yapton and Ryebank Rifes which have been put on flood watch alert.
For more information call floodline on 0845 988 1188, select option 1 and enter quick-dial number 01232122 to get more information.
If you know of any other disruptions post hear to notify readers. It seems like this weather might go no for the rest of the week so it could ge worse before it gets better.

Well done for reporting the problems! But why are the roads ALWAYS so bad still? Our water bills are phenomenally expensive - with hosepipe bans and leaks and bad pipes... but why are they not investing in these often major roads and putting in better drainage??

ReportIt took me about half an hour to get through Hunston yesterday - so if you need to go this way, it is worth giving yourself some extra time for your journey.
Also, Marsh Lane in Merston was terribly flooded and some cars were not able to make it through the worst areas. Try and avoid this one if you can.
