minor-latin">Residents and businesses can play their part in the development of
Chichester’s first community car club.
Chichester District Council wants to get the scheme running and is
looking for volunteers from local individuals as well as businesses to help.
The idea is simple – users will likely pay a one-off fee of around
£25 for membership and then book the car online for the date and time they
require. They will then pay an approximate hourly charge of £4.25 and a mileage rate
of around 19p/mile. However it is likely that if the car is booked for
overnight, there may be a discounted charge of around £12 for 12 hours.
If you drive anything less than around 6,000 miles a year, then this scheme may save you some money real money – up to
£3.500 per year! As well as saving money, it would save you all the hassle that
goes with owning your own car considering car insurance, MOTs, repairs and tax.
The scheme is something that can benefit everyone from a mum
wanting to take her child out to a business person attending an important
meeting.
The council plan to start the scheme by buying two cars – one for
local individuals and one for local businesses.
The Senior Environmental Protection Officer at Chichester District
Council. Simon Ballard made his appeal to the community:” We want to hear from people who would use the scheme,
and also those who would be interested in running the scheme… It will help us
improve the local air quality and provide an important community service."

Senior Environmental Health Officer at the council.

Seems like a good idea to me. Surely would be a big benefit to some people!
