2010 has witnessed a number of drastic changes in the housing market, which have caused stagnancy in the movement of property throughout the country, and an added obstacle to first time buyers.

However, as we head into autumn, statistics released by the Land Registry, suggest that property prices in Chichester and surrounding villages are beginning to look a little brighter. The market is still extremely fragile, as indexes show a correlation between high numbers of properties being presented to the market and a crash in prices due to saturation, but after a sharp decline in June, prices appear to have strengthened again.
With its enviable reputation for culture, food, arts and sporting events, plus its commutable distance from London, Chichester’s increase in house prices has bucked the national trend.
In July, Chichester property prices rose by +0.6% compared to a national average decline of -0.6%, which hopefully points to a slow but steady recovery for Chichester and West Sussex.
If you are thinking of moving house in the near future, would like to find out what your property is worth in today’s market or indeed just find out more details about the current real estate climate, Chichester has a wealth of experienced and knowledgeable estate agents who are able to offer advice.
Chichester Coastal Properties specialise in the villages of Witterings, Bracklesham and Selsey and therefore have substantial local knowledge.
If you are looking to buy or sell a little further afield, both Henry Adams and Cubitt and West cover Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire and boast a reputation for excellent service and well rounded marketing, whilst
Jackson Stops and Staff have offices nationwide and pride themselves on expert local knowledge with the opportunity to market in a number of counties.
Hamptons operate in the South of England including London, so offer the extra sales opportunities of marketing as a second or holiday home.
It is worth shopping around to find the estate agent that is right for you and your property and all of the above agents offer free valuations and advice which is a great tool even if you decide to stay where you are for now.
