Time to get your garden into shape! Who can help you?!

The trees are blossoming and the Frisbees are creeping their
way out of the cupboards to welcome the great weather we are experiencing this
week. First thing’s first though – is the garden in shape and ready for the
sunny days ahead?
In Chichester we are blessed with a number of resources to
help us prepare our gardens. The following is some (hopefully helpful!) info
about just a few of them of them but click here for a far more extensive list
of all that Chichester has to offer you and your garden this year.
If you’re in need of a good old garden centre that will
provide just about everything your garden could ever need, then Russells Garden Centre is a great place to start. Russells sells everything from organic
gardening products to indoor furniture and one of their greatest features is
their incredible award-winning restaurant! Even if you don’t necessarily need
anything for your garden, Russells is a great place to wander round for a while
to see some their great range and you can end (or begin) your wander with a
lunch at the restaurant which holds such honours as being runners up in the
Chichester Observer Restaurant of the year award in 2009 among other such
accolades.
If your garden is getting cluttered up with rubbish and a
shed is the next thing your garden needs then Elfords Sheds is the place for
you! Elfords is a local, family-run business that will deliver and erect
buildings to Chichester residents absolutely FREE! Don’t fall into the trap of
thinking that Elfords only sell standard garden sheds though – they also
provide a fantastic range of garages, heavy duty workshops, summerhouses and
playhouses for the kids!
Maybe you would like a new look to your garden and you feel
like some expertise could be of service? If so, then Millstone Landscapes will provide that service. Millstone Landscapes can help you with any project
of any size and they will help you see it through from its inception right
through to its completion.
One thing that any garden-owner could do with updating every
year is their plant selection and Blue Ribbon Plants is a great place for just
that. Blue Ribbon is another family business with a great deal of experience in
the field (pardon the pun). While the company does grow many of its plants
primarily for trade businesses, they do provide service for individuals as
well. Some of the best things about Blue Ribbon are their ‘Pick Your Own’
fields where all the family can enjoy picking all your favourite fruits such as
Strawberries, Raspberries, Blackcurrants, Gooseberries and Rhubarb.
Another great provider of plants is Shopwhyke Nurseries.
Shopwhyke Nurseries provide an excellent range of plants including a large
stock of trees, shrubs, roses, perennials, herbs and 1000’s of varieties of
seasonal bedding plants. On top of all this, they also sell composts, seeds to
grow your own and some landscaping products. All this from Shopwhyke Nurseries should
just about cover most of what you need to get your garden looking great for
this summer.
If, finally, you want something a bit more specific and are
looking for some roses for your garden, then Apuldram Roses is bursting with
beautiful roses waiting to be bought. Apuldram have a mind-boggling wide range
(around 350 varieties!) of roses to offer and all at some very respectable
prices. All their roses are grown locally on farmland near Chichester Harbour
and all their stock is from the British Isles. The staff will also go as far as
they can to help you plant your roses in the right places in order to give you
years of pleasure.
Evidently then, Chichester really does offer all that you
need to get your garden into shape this year so you can welcome the wonderful
weather appropriately. As I mentioned, this is an incredibly small list of what
Chichester offers your garden but hopefully it can help you as you get your
gardening gloves on!
