Chichester in Bloom 2010

During the summer, I was so taken with the wonderful floral displays that adorned the city centre that I had to take a few photos. It seemed appropriate that a city as beautiful and historically rich as Chichester should been bejewelled with such magnificent flora and the city council had certainly worked to make an impression in the Chichester in Bloom contest that takes place annually.

Category Winner of city-centre award
It would appear that I was not the only one to admire the hard work and artistic talent that goes into this, as Chichester achieved 4 gold awards in the South and South East in Bloom competition in addition to 13 other awards including a Silver Gilt for the wonderful displays in Priory Park.
The stunning displays throughout the city streets led Chichester in Bloom to beat entries from Salisbury and Brighton & Hove and capture the title of category winner in the city-centre section. This also reflected the hard work and dedication of the teams which keep the roads clean and litter free throughout the district.
In town yesterday, I overheard a couple saying how pretty they found Chichester and how they would like to visit again. How lovely to hear this sort of comment from visitors to our city and what a fabulous testament to the passion with which residents and councillors look after it.

Always so lovely to walk through the city centre and see what a tremendous effort is made to keep things looking so beautiful. It's a pleasure to live in such a pretty place
