Watch out for Email Census Scam!

Be on the lookout for a email that is being circulated entitled "Population Censes: a message to everyone - act now" - it is a scam!

The email is being circulated allegedly in the name of the National Statistician Jil Matheson. It demands that you provide further information supposedly for the Census and threatens fines for non-compliance but the email is a scam and a hoax with no connection whatsoever to the National Statistician, the 2011 Census, or the Office for National Statistics (ONS). 

If you receive this email or anything similar, then the advice is not to open them but to delete them immediately and certainly not to open any links which may put your personal information at risk!
