This historic 40 North Street in Chichester is set for a new lease after local property developer Robert Landmead's Kingsbridge Estates secure planning permission to refurbish the site.

The building dates back to the 19th century but is going to have new life breathed into it.The development company forked out a hefty £2 million for the planning permission and are already in talks with a number of high quality restaurant operators and offices.

Robert Langmead who is co-founder and managing director of Kingsbridge Estates, said:  "40 North Street is one of Chichester's most historic buildings in an important part of the city and we have worked very closely with the planning authorities at Chichester District Council to provide a sensitive and attractive refurbishment.

"The rebirth of 40 North Street has been managed by us with agents Aston Rose to retain all of the building's attractive and historic character, while creating something new for Chichester city centre.

"We look forward to providing Chichester with new commercial premises ready for occupation by October."

Kingsbridge Estates purchased the site from its previous owners West Sussex County Council in February of this year and were granted planning permission on 1 June.

What do you think about this historic building being turned into offices and restaurants? Any particular restaurant you would like to come to town?
