Two seperate incidents have caused two deaths in one long weekend along the same stretch of the Chichester-by-pass.

The Chichester-By-Pass from Stockbridge Road roundabout
The first incident occured last Friday (2 December) at 4.50pm when a 54-year-old man was hit by a Ford van between the Whyke roundabout and the Stockbridge Roundabout. The road was then closed for several hours for the police to investigate and clear the roads.
Only 3 days later along the very same stretch of the A27, another pedestrian was hit by another car and sadly died on the scene. This Monday 5 December at 9.50pm, a Mazda mx5 saloon collided with a 39-year-old man from Fenhurst. Again the road was closed for a number of hours (this time until 2.30am) whilst a full investigation began.
In both cases the respective drivers were unharmed - a 34-year-old man in the former and a 48-year-old man from Havant in the latter incident.
Police are still appealing for information from witnesses of either incident to come forward by calling 101 and quoting Operation Bantam for the incident on Friday 2 December and Operation Balmoral for the incident on Monday 5 December.
